Performance intervention on/with Hannah Heilmann
2011

I interrupted Hannah Heilmann's performance of "The Work" (Site specific performance, c. 15 min, including running conveyor belt transporting jelly, maculated paper and potato chips; laptop, web cameras transmitting bucket of mic’ed up chemical soap reaction onto a dusty mirror; fake hair, cocoa smeared teeth mess.) in an attempt to liberate her character from her everyday banal work-driven lifestyle. My character climbs a working conveyor belt, sings Pat Benetar's Heartbreaker, and begins to transform Hannah into a sexy, liberated diva. Unfortunately, my work goes too far and Hannah looks more like a Christmas tree/clown and doesn't quite know what to do with her new-found liberation. I leave the stage, confused and Hannah continues her work - unaffected by her new look.
